What will I learn during the course of the Esthetics program at Skin Care and Spa Institute?                   

During the course of the program you will learn to:    

· Perform a variety of facial procedures and treatments using top of the line products

·  Analyze skin and recognize disorders

·  Perform effective client consultations

·  Maintenance and corrective skin treatments

·  Apply the knowledge gained for the safe use of product ingredients and chemistry of the product

·  Perform facial treatment with and without the aid of machines

·  Recommend prescriptions for home care

·  Apply sales techniques for effective retailing

·  Perform facial massage (excluding the scalp)

·  Apply makeup for day wear and evening wear, as well as special occasions

·  Perform spa body treatments to exfoliate, detoxify, stimulate, tone and condition the skin

·  Perform microdermabrasion technique with the aid of machine.

· Perform glycolic skin peels (up to 30%)

·  Apply airbrush tanning and make up

·  Perform permanent lash extension

·  Perform hair removal with tweezers, depilatories, and waxing (electrolysis hair removal is excluded).

·  Analyze skin using skin ultrasound machine, skin scope, and wood lamp.

·  Perform sanitation and disinfecting techniques and procedures for equipment and supplies

What products will I be using at school?

·  During the practical portion of the course you will be using the best products in the skin care industry such as: Bioelements, Estelle, G.M. Collins, Repchage, in order to insure the best qualify of facial treatment services

How long is the Esthetics Program at Skin Care and Spa Institute?

·   The program is 750 hours, which takes about 9 months to complete.  Once you have completed 750 hours, you are considered to have completed the program.

What are the available class schedules?

 

We currently offer the following schedules: 

·  Morning Session: Monday – Friday from 10am to 3pm.

·  Evening Session: Monday – Thursday from 6pm – 10pm and Sunday 10 am - 3 pm. 

·  Weekend Session: Saturday from 10am – 2pm and Sunday 10 am - 3 pm.

 

Can I attend school on a part-time basis?

 

·  Yes, just notify us of your intention to attend school on part-time bases in your application, or during your meeting with the school director. Skin Care and Spa Institute offers a variety of part-time attendance options to fit our students’ needs.

 

How many students are in each class?

 

·  Our student/teacher ratio is below the industry’s standard.  This enables us in providing individual attention to all our students.  At SCSI, we usually have no more than 15 students per class.

 

What is the Cost of the Esthetics Program at Skin Care and Spa Institute?

 

·         Our school’s tuition is one of the most affordable in the State of Illinois. Included in the tuition are text books and a large student supply kit. The tuition also includes the $100 registration fee.

 

What are my tuition payment options?

 

We offer a variety of payment options:

·  You can choose our flexible Monthly Payment Plan Option (for a small service charge)

·  We can help you qualify for a personal loan with Sallie Mae financial or Chase Bank

·  You can pay the entire amount

 

What are my career options upon graduation?

·  You can work in salons, spas, dermatologist and plastic surgeon offices performing esthetic services, become a skin care brand representative or open up your own business.

    How much money can I earn as an Esthetician?

·  According to surveys, experienced estheticians can make $60K per year or more.

   Does Skin Care and Spa Institute help students find jobs after they graduate?

·  The school provides lifelong employment assistance for graduates.

·  We maintain a list of businesses that have contacted the school and are interested in employing graduates.  Famous salons, spas, and plastic surgeons are currently employing a large number of our graduates, while other graduates have opened their own businesses.



I recently lost my job.  Are there any special programs for me to get trained as an Esthetician?

·  The school works closely with the Illinois Department of Employment Security and we participate in all the State-sponsored training programs.  Call your caseworker to find out more.
